the word geek is a noun meaning:
1. a digital-technology expert or enthusiast (a term of pride as self-reference, but often used disparagingly by others).
2. a person who has excessive enthusiasm for and some expertise about a specialized subject or activity: a foreign-film geek.
3. a peculiar person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual, unfashionable, or socially awkward.
4. a carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.

the word geek is a slang term originally used to describe eccentric or non-mainstream people; in current use, the word typically connotes an expert or enthusiast or a person obsessed with a hobby or intellectual pursuit, with a general pejorative meaning of a "peculiar person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual, unfashionable, boring, or socially awkward".

We believe the definition needs to be modified to fit modern day culture. The word geek no longer is a form of expressing negative connotation or a low opinion of someone or something. Geeks are mainstream - they are a collective of different races, genders, creeds, nationalities... We are all not awkward or eccentric...
Quoting Brian Johnson from the Breakfast Club movie
"You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out, is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, and a princess, and a criminal."
A geek is just an enthusiast of a particular topic, hobby or field.
